$357K awarded to family of 92-year-old man who died after nursing home fall

A Wilton Manors nursing home must pay $356,700 to the family of a 92-year-old man who fell and injured his head but was not taken to the hospital, an arbitration panel has ordered.

Calvin Gorsuch, 92, of Pompano Beach, had Alzheimer’s disease and a history of falls and had been admitted to Manor Pines Convalescent Center in Wilton Manors for rehabilitation. After he was transferred two weeks later into the skilled care nursing section of the facility, he fell and hit his head.
